Infant & Junior Department

Key Stages 1 & 2 of the National Curriculum

A full and comprehensive range of Infant and Junior subjects are taught which follow the National Curriculum. Pupils are taught French, (our major foreign language) from Year 3.

There are no more than 12 pupils in each year group. A maximum class size of 24 may occur in Key Stage 1 and 2, where two year groups are taught together. Teachers are supported by Teacher's Assistants in classes of 15 or more pupils. Small classes mean that the pupils benefit from the level of individual attention available within the school. Educational visits such as field studies are integral to the curriculum. Residential visits will not normally be undertaken until pupils are seven years old. Key Stage 1 & 2 SATs are applied at the appropriate times.
